A Sloth and a Greyhound Walk Into a Bar

Sometimes, we're asked to build a report that is most easily accomplished using a virtual list technique, but find that the report doesn't scale well and takes way too long to run in production. We'll start with an intro to virtual lists, in case anyone's not familiar with this powerful and flexible technique, and then touch on how & why it can create a performance bottleneck. The fun part will be exploring a wide variety of performance optimizations, some of which can improve speed by 100x or more! Many of the optimizations we'll discuss will be broadly applicable to other development tasks, so come prepared to share your optimization insights and maybe take away some new ones.
